Sole Hope


Sole Hope’s core purpose is to effectively put in place preventive methods to combat diseases that enter through the feet and to create a positive physical and psychological difference in the lives of individuals in impoverished communities. Volunteers will be having a “shoe cutting party”, in which they will be cutting denim fabric into patterns that will be shipped over to Uganda and made into shoes! This act of service will help the fight against jiggers, which are bugs that burrow into feet and lay eggs, causing tissue damage, infections, and great pain. Volunteers will receive an extra volunteer hour if they bring in a pair of old jeans to be used during this project!!

Mustard Seed of Central Florida


The mission of The Mustard Seed Furniture and Clothing Bank is to help rebuild the lives of families and individuals who have suffered disaster or personal tragedy by providing household furnishings and clothing while being environmentally responsible to our community. We currently have a dire need of volunteers in our mattress recycling area and we really need mattress warriors.  Mattress Recycling: Through our mattress recycling program, we have saved 21,428 mattresses from ending up in the landfill in 2015 alone. As 90% of every mattress is recyclable, we have saved over 1.5 million cubic feet of landfill space to date. Volunteers in this area break down the mattresses and prepare the pieces for recycling. Warehouse: We have a 20,000 square foot warehouse where we organize, store, and sort through donations. In this role, volunteers here might sort and organize donations into boxes. Linen Room: We have a linen room that houses all of our linens, to include towels, sheets, blankets, etc. In this role, volunteers here might sort and organize donations onto the appropriate shelves.

Building Lives That Work. For more than 50 years Goodwill has been changing lives by providing vocational services to individuals with disabilities and/or barriers to employment. Partnering with Goodwill is a big part of what keeps Goodwill going strong! Volunteers will be helping in a variety of ways by sorting and organizing our donated goods to be sold in the retail stores. Group will be divided into groups. Making Retail displays, sorting electronics, sorting donated goods and posting items on online store.

ASGO was founded in 1996 by a group of volunteer parents to better assist families of children and adults with autism in the Central Florida area. The mission or goal of the ASGO is that all individuals within the autism spectrum will be provided a lifetime network of opportunities to become fully accepted, included, and actively participating members of our community, through family support, education, advocacy, and public awareness. We offer social opportunities for individuals with autism to be included in the community. United Global Outreach


United Global Outreach (UGO) is a not-for-profit organization that focuses on transforming neglected and underprivileged communities by meeting their educational, physical, spiritual and emotional needs by giving a hand-up, unleashing unlimited potential and possibilities. Every resident is treated as a VIP – a core value of UGO efforts. Volunteers will be engaging in beautification efforts at United Global Outreach’s Transformation Village located in Bithlo, FL. This site serves as a community center for Bithlo residents, providing a unique charter school to meet community needs, mental health counseling, domestic violence prevention, computer lab, GED programing, library/coffee shop, and access to other direct services. This will require some hard labor and lot’s of love! Supplies: Gloves, gardening tools, cleaning supplies, garbage bags, paint brushes, (we have supplies too, but the more the better!)

Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens


At the Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens, we utilize education as our strongest tool for conservation. We are a growing facility – and as such we regularly need volunteers to help in our effort to help set up for our large event, Zoo Boo. Kate and Justin Rose Foundation


“Feeding hungry tummies and curious minds” through the provision of weekend nutrition, books and experiences for elementary aged children during the school year. This project will be done in conjunction with our partner, HungerFight, where we will be packing 20,000 shelf stable meals that will be distributed to children receiving weekend food in our Blessings in a Backpack program, providing weekend food for children on the federal free and reduced meal plan. Grab 10 of your closest friends and your favorite hairnet and together we’ll have a fun packing meals for hungry children.

Volunteer Project Description: Packing shelf stable meals. Volunteers will be provided all of the training and tools necessary to do the job. Just bring the fun!

GreenUp Orlando


The GreenUp Orlando program was created in 1985 to increase the City’s available tree canopy and to improve the appearance of our community. The program is designed to stimulate improvements to public places in neighborhoods through volunteer efforts and contributions. GreenUp Orlando encourages citizens and groups to plant trees and shrubs, beautify their neighborhoods, raise public awareness and pride in Orlando, “The City Beautiful,” and promote the benefits of volunteer efforts in partnership with the City. Volunteers will help the Park’s Division Bill Frederick park create a environmental wash out berm along Hiawassee Rd to our Horse Pasture. The run off is creating a safety issue. This will allow us to provide the highest level of service with the most efficient use of the citizen tax dollars. In addition, our staff and UCF Knights to work together and build strong comradeships, while fixing a problem area and adding trees, native plantings to the park.

Keep Orlando Beautiful (Greenwood Cemetery)


The purpose of Keep Orlando Beautiful is to engage individuals to take greater responsibility for enhancing their community environment through litter prevention, waste reduction and recycling, and beautification efforts. Volunteers will be sprucing up the cemetery by scrubbing tombstones to rid them of black mold and picking up any litter in the nearby park. Closed toe shoes only. Dress for a mess.

IMPOWER is a leading non-profit mental health and child well-being organization dedicated to empowering the lives of those in need by offering personal attention, counseling, assistance and inspiration to help them reach their full potential and achieve individual success. The project will take place at The Village which is a Transitional Housing Program providing young adults who have “aged out” of the foster care system the opportunity to complete their education and enhance their independent living skills before moving and living on their own. The Village offers safe and affordable housing for young men and women ages 18 to 23 years of age. Youth experience living on their own in a dorm like setting in two large homes which IMPOWER needs help maintaining. We are asking for help from UCF to maintain the grounds and the homes with basic projects such as organizing, yard work, cleaning, and so forth.

Join Seminole County Watershed Management Division biologists and the SERV Program in helping to restore Myrtle Lake by planting beneficial native plants and removing invasive plants. Clean the World

Clean the World has a two-part mission: Collect and recycle soap and hygiene products discarded every day by the hospitality industry and other sectors that generate environmental waste. Through the distribution of these and other donated products to impoverished people, prevent millions of hygiene-related deaths each year, reduce the morbidity rate for hygiene-related illnesses, and encourage vigorous childhood development. Volunteers will assist with the sorting and boxing of soap and bottled amenities.

Center for Independent Living


The Center for Independent Living in Central Florida helps people with disabilities by breaking down barriers that might stand in their way of gaining independence. Specifically with this program, Foundations to Freedom, we need the help of volunteers to help us build ramps and home modifications for those with physical disabilities so they can access their home safely and not rely on others to be independent. Volunteers will help build an ADA accessibly wood ramp for a person with a physical disability on our waiting list. No prior construction experience needed for volunteers, we will have staff on site to help direct project. Must be comfortable working outside, getting dirty, lifting 50 pounds and working with power tools. Some mixing and pouring of concrete might be needed.

United Against Poverty


At United Against Poverty (formerly the Community Food & Outreach Center) our purpose is to inspire and empower those living in poverty to lift themselves and their families to economic self-sufficiency. All of our programs are designed around this principle and encourage the community to come together under this goal. Our programs include our LEAP Center which is our emergency case management unit and education center, the Cost Share Grocery Program, and a Thrift Store. As a volunteer, you will assist with the everyday operations of our programs which include organizing thrift store shelves, stocking grocery products, and greeting members as they shop. We also work on special projects that help enhance our programs and facility.

Avian Reconditioning Center


ARC works with birds of prey through education, rehabilitation , and falconery to enhance the lives of raptors and their habitats. At ARC we maintain their living quarters and the grounds of ARC. UCF Knights Give Back have for several years helped us to do some landscaping and simple maintenance projects that can be done in the time you have to volunteer. We would love to have that wonderful help again this year and it comes at a great time as our yearly fund raiser is in November. Thank you for the support and we hope to be one of your picks for Knights give back. Volunteers should wear work clothes, hats, sunglasses, sun screen, drinks or a container to fill with water closed toed shoes.

Orlando Day Nursery


Orlando Day is a private school and childcare facility in Parramore that serves low-income and homeless families. Our mission statement is “Opening our doors to all children to prepare them for a successful future.” Volunteers will be cleaning toys, cots, chairs and the kitchen area, working in our organic garden, beautifying the outside area through planting, cleaning the playground and possibly spreading mulch.

Habitat for Humanity Seminole Apopka


Habitat Seminole-Apopka builds new homes, rehabs existing homes and repairs older, owner-occupied homes that have fallen into a state of critical disrepair. We work in partnership with homeowners-in-progress, volunteers and the community at large to achieve our mission of strengthening the community by providing low-income families with safe, decent and affordable housing. Volunteers will work on a construction site and/or in one of our ReStores on a special project. This will be determined in September. Volunteers should wear closed-toe, sturdy shoes and weather-appropriate clothing they don’t mind getting dirty. Water, sunscreen, and bug spray will be provided on-site.

Oakland Nature Preserve


The Oakland Nature Preserve is a 128-acre preserve located just west of Orlando, Florida in the town of Oakland, situated on the south shore of Lake Apopka. Our mission is to promote an understanding of the fragile balance between mankind and the environment by educating present and future generations about the natural ecosystems and cultural history of the Lake Apopka Basin, and by restoring & conserving the lands within the Preserve. Our volunteers assist with a variety of tasks, depending on the specific project this can be anything from clearing wooded & bushy areas, pulling invasive plant species, planting new species and doing habitat evaluations. Since our volunteer sessions are outdoor events, it’s important that participants wear weather-appropriate clothing and closed-toed shoes. We also ask our volunteers to bring a reusable water bottle, there are refilling stations onsite so that you can stay hydrated.
