What to Expect When You’re Not Expecting: Charge On Challenge

By Kimberly Goldklang

Surprise! Charge On Challenge has arrived! If you find yourself overwhelmed or confused, keep reading to find out everything you need to know about what’s going on for the next 24 hours! Charge On Challenge is Knight-Thon’s “$100 Day.” From 10 PM tonight (October 8th) until 10 PM tomorrow night (October 9th), each participant is challenged to raise $100 For the Kids. Charge On Challenge is also a way for Knight-Thon to make our presence known and take over the UCF Campus along with the rest of the Orlando Community. Other than the monetary aspect of the day, Charge On Challenge is a great way to spread awareness for our hospital & get more people involved in our movement.

Throughout the day, there will be different activities taking place, most of which happening on the Student Union patio. One activity will be the Jail. If you’ve been to Knight-Thon before, you should already know what the jail is. To put a friend in jail, you will donate any amount. Your friend will stay in jail until they raise double the original amount! To raise money while in jail, you can either bucket or receive donations direct to your Donor Drive.

Participants will be able to check out buckets throughout the day & take over campus trying to collect donations For The Kids! Bucket with a friend or in your favorite costume. Do whatever you can do differentiate yourself from the others who will be bucketing!

Stop by the fundraising station to get fundraising tips and tricks! This is the place to learn your KT elevator speech, email and messaging templates, and even more! There is tons of resources provided at this table to help you reach that $100 and even more!

Another great resource is the Inspiration Station. Here, students will be able to learn more about Child Life, the Transport Units, and all things Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children! At this table, participants will learn more about our cause. Don’t know the cause? Don’t worry! Non-participants will be introduced to the cause here as well!

The Dancer Relations Table is the place to go for Miracle Points & sign ins. Visit our Dancer Relations Team and earn points for you (Team Black and Gold) or your team towards the Miracle Shield!

Another fan favorite activity is the dunk tank! You can purchase balls to throw at the target to try & knock the person into the water. You can donate $3 for 3 trys or donate $5 to nominate a person of your choosing to go into the dunk tank.

On the Student Union patio, you will have the opportunity to buy all your KT merchandise! We have remaining items from last year’s event, as well as our brand new Theme Shirts! The Merchandise Table is also the place you can come pick up your Miracle Champion shirt (while supplies last) from 9-5pm once you complete the challenge of raising $100 FTK!

Stop by our “This Is Why” Theme Table and to tell us your Why for a chance to be featured in our #ThisisMyWhy series on Knight-Thon social media. This is also the place to take pictures in our photo frames and with the “I accept” and “I completed” Charge on Challenge Shield!

Make sure to keep up with Knight-Thon on social media throughout the next 24 hours! We will be posting monetary updates, live videos, & most importantly, surprise incentives through Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram! @knightthonucf

After 24 hours of hard work and fundraising, we invite you to come out to Reveal Ceremony at 10:30 PM in front of the CFE Arena for FREE snow cones! Bring all of your FTK friends to celebrate all of our hard work and efforts. We will be recognizing our top fundraisers of the day, as well as any participants who surpass $300 total raised on donor drive during the 24 hours!

Charge On Challenge is a day when the entire UCF Community comes together for one common cause: our kids. The next 24 hours will be exhausting, but when you feel like giving up, just remember what our kids & their families go through on a daily basis. Stay encouraged & Charge On!
