Maxwell Kaplowitz (he/they) began his journey as a knight in 2014, earning his B.S. in interdisciplinary studies in 2018. They also served as a Resident Assistant and Lavender Council member during their undergraduate career. Maxwell is on his way to becoming a double alum as they work towards their dual master’s in public administration and Non-Profit Management. Prior to working with OSI, Maxwell worked with High Impact Practices and Housing and Residence Life at UCF. As the Student Programs Coordinator for Homecoming and Knight-Thon, Maxwell assists student-run organizations in planning, developing, and implementing comprehensive campus life programming. Maxwell’s background is in student leadership development, diversity and inclusion, philanthropy and fundraising, and event planning. He has worked for UCF full-time since 2019.

As the Volunteerism and Community Engagement Coordinator, Shemeca helps to facilitate student engagement with community partners across Central Florida and the Southeastern Region. She directly advises the Volunteer UCF agency and Alternative Break Program, two of VCE’s student lead programs. Meca completed my bachelor’s degree in English Literature/ Linguistic in 2017 and went on to serving 1 year with AmeriCorps, City Year Orlando. Throughout her year of service, she completed 1700 service hours at Memorial Middle School in Orlando Fl., serving as a teachers aid and behavioral coach. Post-service, Meca pursued and completed her Master’s degree in Educational Leadership. She worked as a graduate assistant in the Office of Student Involvement during that time. After graduating in 2020, she transitioned to a part-time role as UCF’s AmeriCorps Recruiter where she facilitated partnership and liaison between the Volunteer Florida AmeriCorps Opportunities and the University of Central Florida. In addition, to her full-time role, Meca is an adjunct faculty for the Educational Leadership and Higher Education – CCIE and Lead Scholars Academy – SSWB. Meca has experience with community engagement, service-oriented event planning and programming, diversity/inclusion education, training as well as student development. She has conducted workshops and presentations on various topics.

Amanda Dever (she/her) is the Community Engagement and Volunteerism Assistant Director for the Office of Student Involvement at the University of Central Florida. Amanda found her passion for community engagement work in college, where she led social justice efforts at Denison University. After graduating, Amanda served as an Ohio Campus Compact AmeriCorps VISTA for three years at Marietta College. While at Marietta, Amanda helped to create the Office of Civic Engagement within the McDonough Leadership Center. Amanda went on to complete her graduate work at Loyola University Chicago, where she studied social justice, community development, and organizing theories and practice. She also served as the Outdoor Experiential Education Graduate Assistant, where she supported the Ramble Outdoors Challenge Course team.

Amanda went on to lead the Central West End Association, a community association in the heart of St. Louis. Since May 2017, Amanda has worked in the Office of Student Involvement at UCF. In her current role, Amanda oversees the newly created Office of Student Involvement Volunteerism and Community Engagement space, focused on supporting volunteerism and community engagement within the UCF and Greater Orlando communities. The space now houses the Alternative Break program, Volunteer UCF, the UCF AmeriCorps Recruiter grant, Community Connectors, Deliberative Dialogues, as well as other programs, organizations, and initiatives surrounding volunteerism. Amanda received her B.A. in English Literature and International Studies from Denison University in Granville, Ohio and her M.A. in Social Justice and Community Development from Loyola University in Chicago, Illinois.

Kaelyn Hamilton serves as the Assistant Director of Programming in the Office of Student Involvement at the University of Central Florida (UCF), where she leads dynamic initiatives that foster belonging, engagement, and leadership development across campus.

Before stepping into her current role, Kaelyn made a significant impact as the Multicultural Student Center Coordinator, where she oversaw cultural center operations, advised the MSC board, and supported more than 30 registered student organizations. Her leadership was pivotal in cultivating inclusive spaces that uplift diverse student voices and empower cultural expression.
Kaelyn’s journey in service-based leadership began long before her time at UCF. As an Executive Senior Service Director with the Boys and Girls Club, she successfully operated her own branch—creating safe, enriching environments for youth while driving outcomes in community engagement and programming excellence.

Academically driven and committed to lifelong learning, Kaelyn earned her Master’s in Nonprofit Management from UCF and is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Education. Her advising style is widely recognized for its transformational leadership approach, helping students tap into their potential and walk confidently in their purpose.

Proudly rooted in her identity as a sister of Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority, Inc. and a forever Knight, Kaelyn’s work is grounded in equity, passion, autonomy and a bold belief in student empowerment.
