About Knight-Thon

Our Mission

The mission of Knight-Thon, the University of Central Florida’s Miracle Network Dance Marathon and largest student run philanthropy, is to educate, inspire, and unite our campus and community to provide ongoing support for Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children, our local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital. For The Kids We Are!

Who We Are

Knight-Thon is students, student organizations, and community members coming together around a common cause. In this collegiate philanthropy, student teams raise money year round through fundraising events and personal appeals. In the spring, students stand for 20 hours to celebrate their fundraising efforts and the kids they are raising money to support. Knight-Thon is thousands of UCF students standing for a cause, standing to help their community, standing to help local kids at local hospitals.

Why We Stand

The main purpose of Knight-Thon is to raise money and awareness for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. But why do we stand for 20 hours? Many of the children who are admitted into our local hospitals go through pain and suffering that most of us cannot even comprehend. The act of staying on our feet for 20 hours is meant to give participants a greater appreciation and understanding of the struggles these kids go through every day. Participants are faced with both mental and physical challenges in an effort to support these strong children. Knight-Thon is more than just a philanthropy event; it is UCF’s way to stand in support of the brave children being treated at our local Children’s Hospitals. Simply stated, we stand for the kids who can’t.

The Event

Knight-Thon is an event unlike any other. Knight-Thon is a 20-hour dance marathon and year-long fundraising effort directly benefiting the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. Every hour on the hour, students partake in our “Morale” dance taking them out of their comfort zone and into the dance marathon spirit. To inspire our students to remain standing, our Miracle Children are welcomed onstage alongside their families, and so courageously share their stories of diagnosis, defeat, and newfound hope.

But Knight-Thon is not only inspirational, it’s fun! Students have plenty of entertainment and activities. We’ve got everything from bounce houses to hypnotists, and there’s never a dull moment. There’s food, free merchandise and a day packed with free entertainment. Even better, you get to do all of this with your fellow Knights! Knight-Thon is part of the ultimate UCF experience and brings you closer to both your campus and its official philanthropy.
