Arnold’s Wildlife Center

Arnold's Wildlife Center is an educational-based wildlife care facility that rescues, rehabilitates and releases recovered animals into their natural habitat.  AWC houses a variety of animals such as large cats, small mammals, birds of prey and reptiles.  Volunteers will help the center by cleaning the animal habitats, prepairing diets, feeding the animals, and will also work in their large butterfly garden.

*IMPORTANT*

The facility is almost 2 hours away.  Everyone will all meet at the Lake Claire pavilion at 7:45AM to carpool.  Please email Daniel at "vucf_animals@ucf.edu" if you are able to drive.  Students who drive will recieve an additional 3 hours of community service, and will be reimbursed for gas.  Additionally, it is REQUIRED to wear closed-toed shoes and old clothes that can get dirty.  It is also advised to bring snacks as lunch will not be provided.

Please contact Daniel at vucf_animals@ucf.edu for any questions or concerns.

Sunday Knight Food Share with Straight Street Orlando

Every Sunday night, college students feed the homeless in Downtown Orlando! This will be a great opportunity to interact with the homeless and help feed the hungry. We meet at the Lake Claire Recreational Area at 4:45 pm to carpool to the event. Please remember to wear closed toed shoes and comfortable clothes you do not mind getting dirty.

Also, we heavily rely on the support of our volunteers to cook food for this event. Cooking a tray of food is a great way to earn 1-2 extra community service hours! If you are interested in helping us prepare meals please let us know. For more information, contact Alice at vucf_hunger@ucf.edu.

Please do not RSVP for more than two guests. For people interested in bringing agroup of volunteers, you must contact vucf_hunger@ucf.edu.

Giving Thanks at Orlando Day Nursery

Come out and join other students to make a difference in a young child's life! We will be spending time at Orlando Day Nursery to have some Thanksgiving-themed, fun-filled activities and help with any needed tutoring. This includes educating the children about the history of the holiday and the importance of giving thanks, sharing, and caring for our friends. The children range in age and love the interaction with UCF students! We will meet at the Lake Claire Pavilion (next to the kayak rentals) at 1:15pm for carpooling. We will be back on campus no later than 5:30pm. Please wear closed-toe shoes. There are required forms to be completed before attending the service event, so please check the 'Documents' tab on the left-hand side to download these forms (Orlando Day Nursery Volunteer Packet). You must get the forms notarized. You can find a notary either in the OSI office (please e-mail Ted Greenberg and set an appointment with him: Ted.Greenberg@ucf.edu) or the SGA office (please e-mail Sandi Briggs and set an appointment with her: Sandra.Briggs@ucf.edu), both of which are on the second floor of the student union. You must have a valid Florida ID with you at the time you are getting the forms notarized. When completed, simply bring the forms with you to the event. If you have volunteered at the site in the past year, you do not have to resubmit these forms. For more information and if you are able to drive, please email Zaid at vucf_youth@ucf.edu.
