Transforming Children

Come out and join other students to make a difference in the lives of individuals in need. We will be spending time with Transforming Children, a faith ministry organization that helps teenagers and young adults deal with the many issues they face on a daily basis. We will be mentoring them and helping them with these issues as well as teaching them about college and sharing our collegiatae experiences with them. We will show them what it is like to be a college student and explain how they themselves can become a college student. We will also help with any school work they may have. We will meet at the Lake Claire Pavilion (next to the kayak rentals) at 3:00pm for carpooling. We will be back on campus no later than 6:30pm. Please wear closed-toed shoes. For more information and if you are able to drive, please email Zaid at vucf_youth@ucf.edu.

Bithlo GED Program

United Global Outreach (UGO) is very excited to be providing GED Classes with Orange County Public Schools every Wednesday evening from 6:00-8:00pm at Transformation Village. Bithlo residents of all ages and backgrounds are enrolled in these classes, and UGO is in need of UCF volunteers to help guarantee their success. Based on a person’s past experience, the journey to earn a GED can be an easy one, or a challenging one. Volunteers are expected to not only assist GED students in their studying but to also provide them with moral support to move through the program and succeed. Through working with GED students, UGO volunteers will build strong relationships with GED students and help keep them focused on the coursework and on the ultimate goal of earning their GED. We will meet at the Lake Claire Pavilion at 5:15 pm to carpool and return to campus at 8:30 pm. If you have any further questions, contact Ariadna Santos at vucfeducation@ucf.edu
