We will also spend Friday, our free day, to explore Atlanta and will most likely go to the Martin Luther King museum.
Students will be traveling to Sarapiqui, Costa Rica to work with rural schools, directly serving the needs of students. We will be completing projects (painting, gardening, assisting etc.) in a local school and we will also paint the San Miguel Community Center. We will learn about the impact of climate change in Costa Rica and will bring into our reflections the influence of global economy and economic justice in this country. Lastly, we will spend Friday as our free day to explore and learn the story and process of Costa Rican coffee, the importance of sustainable farms as well as visit zero-waste artisans around the neighborhood of Sarapiqui.
This trip is only for students in the Lead Scholars Academy. Students will be beautifying and restoring the streets of New Orleans.
