Atlanta Harm Reduction Coalition

Atlanta, Georgia

For this trip we will be traveling to Atlanta, Georgia to help with harm reduction. We will be working with Atlanta Harm Reduction Coalition. Our projects will include community outreach, community cleanups, and serving food to the community. We will also spend Friday, our free day, to explore Atlanta and will most likely go to the Martin Luther King museum.


Education, Coffee, and Community


Coopsarapiqui

Sarapiqui, Costa Rica

Social Issues: Education and Environment

Students will be traveling to Sarapiqui, Costa Rica to work with rural schools, directly serving the needs of students. We will be completing projects (painting, gardening, assisting etc.) in a local school and we will also paint the San Miguel Community Center. We will learn about the impact of climate change in Costa Rica and will bring into our reflections the influence of global economy and economic justice in this country. Lastly, we will spend Friday as our free day to explore and learn the story and process of Costa Rican coffee, the importance of sustainable farms as well as visit zero-waste artisans around the neighborhood of Sarapiqui.


Beautifying and restoring the Streets of New Orleans

Social Issue: Humanitarian Relief

This trip is only for students in the Lead Scholars Academy. Students will be beautifying and restoring the streets of New Orleans. We will be working with NetWork New Orleans Volunteers which connects volunteers to a variety of social issues and projects around the world. We will be partnering with local communities to support continued revitalization and improve neighborhoods. Our service projects include park beautification and planting, community center beautification, neighborhood canvassing and surveying, and home rebuilding and construction. We will also have a free day where we will be exploring the rich Louisiana culture and history.


Eco-Adventure and Marine Debris Removal

Florida Keys, Florida

Social Issue: Environmental Awareness

ABP will be partnering with the UCF Outdoor Adventure Center for a week-long trip throughout the Florida Keys and Dry Tortugas National Park! This trip will have a few differences than other ABP trips due to this partnership. Volunteers will spend two days of our trip volunteering with Team OCEAN at the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary doing marine debris cleanup. The rest of this trip will be activities facilitated by Outdoor Adventure, like kayaking, snorkeling, and exploring Dry Tortugas.
