Brandon lives in Winter Park with his twin sister Madison and parents Pedro and Stacey. Brandon was born with a congenital heart defect called an AV Canal defect. This defect was a medium sized hole between the upper two chambers of his heart. Once he was born another heart abnormality, a coarctation of the aorta (COA), was also detected. This is a narrowing of the aorta between the upper and lower body braches. The Orlando Heart Center team at Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children performed the first COA surgery at five weeks old and then repaired the hole in his heart at 1.5 years old. Today Brandon is happy and healthy and no longer needs medicine and receives yearly checkups from the team at Orlando Health Arnold Palmer.
